One of the main winemaking areas in New Zealand, internationally acclaimed wines are produced here. The oldest winery in the country, the Mission Estate Winery, and its grounds are the venue for the famous annual Mission Concert in February each year.
The city of Napier is world renowned for its art deco architecture, a legacy of a major earthquake back in 1931. It is also well known for the many attractions along its Marine Parade including Marineland and the Aquarium.
Just 20 minutes drive away lies Hastings with the surrounding countryside featuring a number of stunning vineyards and orchards. Hastings itself boasts beautiful parks and unique Spanish Mission architecture, and is home to the Splash Planet water theme park.

For the active there is every outdoor adventure you can imagine from jet-boating between wineries, day walks, golfing, hot air ballooning, surfing, caving, paragliding, sailing, windsurfing or fishing for trout. Please note, trout fishing is seasonal and permits may be required.
In the Northern Hawkes Bay the Wairoa district offers sandy beaches, rocky coastlines, fresh water lakes, caves and rivers teeming with trout.

From Nuhaka to majestic Te Mata Peak, through to Central Hawke's Bay and the longest place name, Hawke's Bay is steeped in history and Maori legends take time to explore some of these spiritual areas and learn about New Zealand's unique culture.
